There are many people in prison who have no contact with the outside world or need friends or romance. Make it clear what you want. Even romance should start with a friendship first.
We seek to help inmates find positive influences in their life so they won't return to prison again. Some have a life sentence or are on Death Row. Some still have appeals pending. They are so thankful that you have taken the time out of your busy day to write to them. Please don't start writing and then get too busy and stop because they look forward to mail call. They want someone who relates to the free world and not just the concrete walls of a prison. A letter is like gold to them. As a pen pal you will also experience joy from writing. Ask yourself if you feel comfortable about giving your physical home address to the inmate. If you do not, you might want to rent a P.O. Box number.
